Beauty Night is an award-winning volunteer-run, registered Canadian charity that builds self-esteem and changes the lives of women and youth living in poverty. The Beauty Night evenings are held at organizations such as the Elizabeth Fry Society, shelters, health care  facilities, drop-in centres and transition homes.

Pardon Services Canada has a 25 year history of helping improve the lives of Canadians through our Record Suspension and Travel Waiver services, as well as our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve. Pardon Services Canada staff collected cosmetics, skin care and hair care products from their own make-up drawers to donate to the Beauty Nights held at the Elizabeth Fry Society’s New Westminster location. They also collected donations from Shoppers Drug Mart, London Drugs, Pharmasave, and Your Dollar Store With More.

Positive human contact and caring is so vital for all of us. With 90% of women in correctional facilities having experienced sexual abuse before the age of 18, Beauty Night is a great opportunity to reintroduce positive contact with others in a non-threatening way. It also allows the participants to build relationships based on trust with the Beauty Night volunteers. Through this program participants are also able to connect with resources to help them move forward in their lives. By accessing this program, many also develop the confidence to reconnect again with friends, family and their community. The value of this program is further demonstrated by the fact that 20% of the volunteers are previous participants of the program, paying it forward.
