Criminal Pardon Process

  • It takes about 5-10 minutes to fill the application online or by calling one of our Specialists.
  • We then create a computer file specific to your case, complete all the necessary forms and present them to you to review and sign.
  • Once all the documents required are collected, we will petition the National Parole Board (NPB) for a Pardon on your behalf.
  • We keep you informed at each stage of the process.

The NPB will take from 3 to 12 months to complete its investigation and render a decision to grant or deny a pardon. The investigation will primarily involve confirming the information we have provided – your employer, or family members or neighbours will not be contacted. As your legal representatives, we will receive and handle all correspondence and calls from the NPB and the police and courts.

Criminal Pardon Requirements

Please see the list below for further information on the requirements to apply for a pardon.

  • Pardon Requirements

    Criminal Record:

We obtain a record check from the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) in Ottawa. The record from CPIC will list all of your convictions, charges and discharges throughout Canada. CPIC charges $25 to locate criminal records.

    Fingerprinting:

You will be required to be fingerprinted, in ink or electronically, at your local police station, or at a private agency. Police services and private agencies charge between $25 and $75. Fingerprints taken electronically will expedite the process.

    Court Information:

We obtain all court documents detailing your offenses as required by the National Parole Board [NPB]. The fee for this service is $20 per court document.

    Local Police Check:

We obtain a record check from each police service having jurisdiction over where you have lived over the last five years. The fee for this service is between $60 and $105. You may be required to attend your local police station. Although this policy may be inconvenient, a personal attendance will result in a faster response time.

    Military Conduct Report:

We obtain the conduct report, from the National Archives or the unit commanding officer for past or present members of the Canadian Armed Forces. The fee for the service is $20.
