Eligibility for Pardon
Depending on your charge, you need to wait the following time period until you are eligible for a pardon. (Note: the application process, both preparation and submission, takes time; it is best to start well in advance of your pardon eligibility date):
| 3 years: | Summary convictions (after sentence completed). Summary offences are minor offences, in which a jury was not required and the case was processed "summarily". |

| 5 years: | Indictable convictions (after sentence completed). Indictable offences are serious offences, in which the trail proceeded by "indictment" and may have involved a jury of your peers. |
